PURPOSE OF SERVICE

Since 2009 NCA Engineering has been engaged on behalf of the Italian Diagnostic Centre, in the study, design and construction management of the plant implementations which over time have become necessary for expansions, renovations or new installations, both in the central headquarters in via Saint Bon Milan, and in various peripheral locations.

2009 > Implementation of the refrigeration plant with the installation of new refrigeration units

The available cooling capacity was no longer sufficient to meet and maintain the required operating conditions. In fact, in the last summer season, the system went into crisis, and it was necessary to use temporary refrigeration units and ad hoc interventions to reserve the available power for essential uses.
The solution also ensured certain implementation times, certain results on system performance, environmental sustainability and low management and maintenance costs.
A solution was therefore studied which involved refrigeration units with a water-cooled condenser with the aid of a cooling tower. In this way, noise pollution control could be ensured, as the cooling tower has sound levels that can be easily neutralized and managed compared to the solution with air units.

2011 > Cyberknife machine installation

Since 2011, the Italian Diagnostic Center and second overall in Italy, has planned the installation of 2 Cyberknife machines, the innovative robotic system for radiosurgery treatments.
NCA Engineering was in charge of the design of the electrical and mechanical auxiliaries, as well as taking care of the DL, including coordination for the positioning of the machines and the plant testing.
The study of the auxiliary systems had to consider that, as with almost all radiotherapy devices, they were expected to be installed in a bunker in which to ensure the optimal parameters for the well-being of operators and patients, in terms of temperature, humidity, exchange of air and lighting. The problems, due to the limited spaces and the need to guarantee the maintenance of safety towards the external environment, were all resolved to the full satisfaction of the Customer, in close collaboration with the process specialists and CDI technicians.

2013/2015/2017 > Implementation of the electrical power system

NCA Engineering has designed and followed over time the replacement of existing electrical systems, such as transformation cabin, generator set and UPS, studying their installation in order to allow the continuity of the center's activity with minimal interruptions in switching from the existing system to the new one.
NCA Engineering was in charge of the design of the electrical and mechanical auxiliaries, as well as taking care of the DL, including coordination for the positioning of the machines and the plant testing.
The renewal of the systems now also allows for a redundancy of power supply capable of keeping the center active even in the event of a prolonged blackout of the electricity grid.
